ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

The coastal region of Malahide is famous for the beauty of its village, coastline and surrounding area. The village itself is well known for its continuing successes in the various National and Regional Tidy Towns competitions and once competed in the European finals. We are committed to maintain and even strive to enhance this region of Dublin that we are proud of.

06/06/05 Malahide Beach regains its Blue Flag

Malahide Beach and neighbouring Donabate Beach were two of the 82 Irish beaches or marinas that were awarded the Blue Flag by the the International Blue Flag jury, 78 of which have been given for beaches and four for marinas. This is the highest number of Blue Flags ever achieved nationally and the Blue Flag status provides a much needed fillip for the tourist industry.

The international jury awarded the Blue Flag to 2,442 beaches and 632 marinas in 28 countries in the northern hemisphere, and for the first time two beaches in Morocco, five beaches and one marina in Poland, and five beaches in Canada received the coveted status award. In Ireland the international Blue Flag campaign is co-ordinated by An Taisce (check the An Taisce site for all the details and maps) and was supported by the Department of the Environment.

We wish to congratulate everybody involved on this process and this award strengthens the pride within our community towards our local enviroment. After all this Blue Flag beach of ours is less then 100m from the entrance to Gannon Park!
