11/11/06 Navan Road Utd 3 – 5 Malahide Utd

Squad:
John Furlong, David Moloney, Eoin Keogh, Sean Meehan, Stephen Cullen, Conor O`Byrne,Ryan Jones, Liam Feeney, Tadhg Russell and David Fox.

After a great performance the previous week we were hoping the players could keep it going for this game. We started the game well and passed the ball around making Navan Road work hard to try and get possession., a great move led to the opening goal for Malahide scored by Conor O`Byrne. We were really dominating the play and once again a great move between Liam Feeney, Eoin Keogh, Stephen Cullen and David Fox led to our second goal scored by Liam Feeney. John Furlong made two excellent saves to keep a clean sheet. 2-0 up at halftime things were looking good.

The second half started and a very determined Navan Road pulled back a goal, we were under a lot of pressure now, David Moloney and Ryan Jones were defending stoutly. Liam Feeney had taken over in goal and made some great saves to protect our lead. Eventually the pressure paid off for Navan Road and they scored the equaliser. We had a secret weapon though in Tadhg Russell, 3-2, 4-2, 4-3 and finally 5-3 and in that superb second half Tadhg had notched up a hatrick.

A cracking game of football with a great performance by both sides

Well Done to all of the players and thank you to all of our supporters.

04/11/06 Malahide Utd 2 – 0 Castleknock Celtic

Squad:
John Furlong, David Moloney, Eoin Keogh, Sean Meehan, Stephen Cullen, Conor O`Byrne,Ryan Jones, Liam Feeney, Tadhg Russell and David Fox.

Our first win of the season and a well deserved one after some really unlucky results previously. The game started at a frantic pace with some tough tackling as both teams tried to take control. Our defenders were worked really hard in the first 10 minutes and needed our midfield to drop back and help out. We then began to get control of the game and a superb passing movement from Ryan Jones to Eoin Keogh who put a brilliant pass through to Conor O`Byrne to score the first goal. We dominated for the remainder of the first half but could not get the second goal.

After half time players had been rotated and Castleknock were determined to get back into the game, a couple of great saves from Sean Meehan kept them out. Malahide then once again got into their groove and played some fantastic football before another great passing move led to a deserved second goal scored by Tadhg Russell.

Another great move started by Liam Feeney with the link play from David Fox put Conor O`Byrne through, a great effort by Conor hit the crossbar. The final whistle came and the players were roundly applauded for a superb performance.

6/9/06 Malahide Utd 1 – 2 Castleknock Celtic

Only our second game since the League restarted, and a glorious day for football.

We have moved up a league this year and are trying to adjust to the higher standard of Football and also adjusting to 2 x 20 minute halves and using size 4 footballs.

The players are working really hard and this showed despite going 2-0 behind a great fightback ensued culminating with a great passing move which led to a well taken goal by Tadhg Russell. We found ourselves extremely unlucky for the second week in a row not to get something out of the game.

A great passing move between David Moloney, Liam Feeney and Conor O`Byrne finished with a great shot just going over the Bar. Ryan Jones and Eoin Keogh were putting in the necessary tackles to keep Castleknock at bay and a great save by Sean Meehan kept Malahide in the game. Stephen Cullen, John Furlong and David Fox set up our next attack which saw a great effort by Liam Feeney very well saved by the Castleknock Goalkeeper. Alas it was not to be our day and we can count ourselves unlucky not to get a deserved draw. We had much the same the previous week against Swords Rovers going down 4-2 with the last kick of the game. We have been encouraged by the players resilience and ability to keep working hard up to the final whistle.

We can work hard in training and try and correct a few things which hopefully will help us get some deserved points on the board.

Well Done to all of the players and thank you to all of our supporters.
