Malahide United 0- 0 Baldoyle

The hero of the day - saving a penalty to keep the match against Baldoyle a 0-0 draw. Baldoyle needed a win to top the table.

19/11. Dunshaughlin 3 - 0 Malahide United

At the start of the match we were playing pretty well and had a few shots at their goal. The team was thinking at that stage that we were going to win. Just before half time Dunshaughlin scored a goal. (DOH!)

In the second half we tried to get back on track but then they scored another goal. (DOH! DOH!) This made the other team feel confident and made it harder for us to defend. Then they scored another goal. (DOH! DOH! DOH!)

We blamed it on the jet-lag after the long trip to Dunshaughlin.

15/10. Malahide United 1-3 Glebe-North F.C

We were captained by Killer who pulled off some great tackles and stopped loads of goals. Eight minutes into the game a couple of fast strikers ran up to our goal and took a shot. Connor tried his best to save it but it was unstoppable but he pulled off some other fantastic saves during the match. Near the end of half time another shot was fired at our goal and again Connor did very well but it was a shot that even the best keepers couldn't save. We were a bit tired at half time but just a few minutes into the second half we got a free kick, Giggsy took it and pulled off a cracker! After that we were all playing a lot better and our passing really improved. Yorkie had a great strike at goal but it was saved by the keeper. Dagger and Chopper did some great defending but a few minutes before the game ended a shot was taken at our goal, which was actually impossible to save.

In my view, the best team lost…..

01/10 Malahide United 0 : Finglas Athletic 0

The weather before the match kicked off into action was wet and windy, but changed to sunny. Yorkie Captained the squad for this game against Finglas. I was on the side line watching the lads due to my broken wrist. It was our first home match of the season. We started off well with some great passes and movement and a few shots that threatened the visitors, otherwise it was an even first half. In the second half, we threatened again and had some great runs by Yorkie and Killian. Midway into the half Giggsy came on and despite damage to his leg, played a cracker of a game and put a good ball to Killlian, who very nearly scored but won us a corner. Giggsy had to come off ( even though he did’nt want to ), with a few minutes remaining. In the end, we finished without a goal but did’nt concede a goal. Final score Malahide United 0 – 0 Finglas. Good match lads!

24/09. Malahide United 0 : Howth 4

A blustery Saturday morning saw us playing away again. Our hosts this time were Howth. After eventually finding the pitch, the team set off for another enthusiastic training session that was to be the forerunner of a fantastic challenge that we hoped would see us devastate the opposition. The adults and Jack and pets were highly entertained as we played our hearts and souls out. Giggsy captained what could only be described as a truly spirited team. With Conor valiantly defending our goals, our backs Chopper and Freddy(ahem) stopping the attack time and again, midfielders Killer Gigsy and Yorkie setting the pitch on fire and our forwards Alex & Stevo pursuing that long awaited goal, it was difficult to believe we were beaten again. Well done lads. We'll win next time.

17/09 : Rush Athletic 0:1 Malahide United

We were captained by Giggsy, who led by example, especially in the second half, with his charging forward in attack and charging back to help defend. In the first half, we were put under pressure but answered back by Ethan, Con, Stevo and Chopper with some brilliant saves by Dagger. Unfortunately, with all Dagger’s effort he was unable to save an unstoppable shot. Even with his stitches, Alex played a superb first half but had to go off at half time to get his stitches taken out. We saw some fine runs and passes by Sean, Yorkie, Giggsy and me in the second half. With 10 minutes remaining, we were in control but were unable to put the ball in their net. With 2 minutes remaining, Ethan tried with his left foot to power the ball in the net and gave the keeper red hands from his save. There was lots of cheering from our fan club.

No report would be complete without mentioning the inspirational advice from Ado and the down-to-earth management of Simon. Without their time and effort in training, there would be no team to train.

  10/09 : Malahide v Balbriggan

After all that walking through many pitches we finally reached our destination. Captained by Giggsy who played a stormer as usual, there was some great passing and tackling, there were also some really good shots but unfortunately no goals, though Yorkie almost scored a great one. Con, our goaly, was on top form and didn't let any balls through. Despite Dagger's black and blue eye he still carried on and played very well.

At the end of the match the score was nil all.
