11/06 - Invitation Cup

Malahide United played Northway Rangers in this very close and exciting Cup Final on the sacred grounds of the senior 11-a-side pitch in Gannon Park. This match was played in glorious weather on the same day that we had our U6/7, U8/9 and U10 Mini Leagues Finals (consisting of 24 teams and 251 footballers), Family Fun day in Gannon Park and of course the FAI Cup 2nd round taking place on the west coast in Sligo.

Northway went 1:0 up in the second quarter but within a few minutes the golden boot of Lee Duffy struck for an equaliser. Northway managed to knock in a second and that was the way it stayed until the final whistle.

Many thanks to Northway Rangers for participating in the inaugural MUAFC Invitation Cup and to local referee and favourite (even on this occaison!) John Watson. John headed back to the 11-a-side mini league finals of which he had another 7 matches to referee!

As for the U8F1 footballers - they all quickly removed they red yellow and black jerseys, donned their mini league T-Shirts and where Cormac, Luke and Stephen made it all the way to the finals - nearly 4 hours later!
