Get well Man o' Steel Macker, who will be out for a while with a broken finger

At our match 27/1, one of our crazies - John Mc Loughlin (aka Macker) broke a finger during the game. We didn't know this at the time, and he played the full match. It wasn't until after the game that he told us that he was in pain. As a result his doctor said he can't play for another 4 weeks.

We may need to put up an advert for a man of steel to fill in at right back, until Macker can return.

No wonder we have the best defensive record in the league - Hurry Up and Get Better!

Match report by Dicey

It all started on a rainy Sunday morning. We were palying Swords Rvs. I’m just going to skip to the match, Ha Ha. The game began it was a good start for us, but the other team satarted better. They had a couple of chances but they were rubbish. But all of a sudden a pass came from nowhere and Giggsy was there to hit it in. After that we knocked in a few crosses, but only one cross made it in. It came from Dan on his debut. From a good bit out he hit it in and I was there to knock it in. 2-0 ha ha. A coulpe of mins later I passed it to Dan outside the box, he hit it first time but he hit the post and came back and he scored. 1st goal for Dan, Ha Ha. The whistle was just about to go but Jimmy was just about to hit it in, 4-0 ha ha. Half time. In the second half me and Dan took the tip off, and passed it to Duffer who ran from the halfway line and was able to blast it in 5-0. We passed it around for a while until a little pass got through to Jimmy, and he was able to put it across the keeper for 6-0. We thought that there would be no more goals but mins later Seanaldo was in the box standing like a loner until Jimmy crossed it to him and he was able to tip it in for 7-0. Swords were tired but they took a few shots but none troubled Con. From the kick out Con passed it to Iano who passed it to Jimmy and it went through a gap and Stevie G was able to finish it 8-0. The whistle blew and we were all delighted and can’t wait for the rest of the season.

16/9 - Home to Rivervalley Rgs in the league Cup.

Report by Kevin McGrath, (Director of Football).

There was a good squad turnout Angus 'Jockser' Burgess and Aidan 'Foxy' Fox (see Squad News) being the only absentees meant we had 17 players on the panel and our latest signing Bob McCullagh was on hand to support the team. The opposition only seemed to have the bare eleven but at least three of there players were bigger than any of ours, Daggers was dwarfed by their guys in mid-field. A strong gusting wind was blowing from the corner and the ref was that guy with the woolly hat and a complete disregard for the offside rule. We warned the defence not to play too high a line and the strikers to play as close to the offside line as they wanted.

The conditions suited our style of play, we kept the ball on the deck and played our way through them. In the first half the wind was in their favour and Con had to come off his line several times to clear long balls over the top, we rode our luck a bit but had our chances too. Nil nil at half time was a reasonable reflection of the game, even though we looked the better side all round.

In the second half, with the wind in our favour our fitness, skill and the depth of our squad began to tell, every member of the panel got a run at some stage. Dicey opened the scoring picking up a through ball in the centre, border line offside, and took it round the keeper for a simple finish for his fourth goal in three games. Then Jimmy showed some wonderful individual skill coming from the left, along the end line inside the opposition penalty area, beating three players and slotting in a low pass for dicey to finish (5th goal in 3) with a simple tap in from point blank range. Duffer opened his account for the season with a long punt from almost the half-way line that the opposition keeper let bounce in front of him, a decision he regretted as the ball soared over his head and into the net.

All round this was a great display. The defence were solid when defending, Paddy, Duffer and Macker making some wonderful tackles at various times and coming forward with the ball, Duffer, Iano and Macker made some telling runs from defence to open up the opposition. Daggers, while playing against players twice his size was an absolute dynamo, he seemed to be everywhere in mid-field and his distribution was, at times, brilliant. The mid-field and the strikers worked hard and Marco and Yorkie made life hell for the opposing full backs.

The only weak point in the performance was that with the strong wind forcing the play to our right in the first half and left in the second, the wingers found it difficult to get deep crosses into the forwards, the forwards needed to come more to that side to win the ball but did not seem to realise this.

All in all a great performance. The team showed great patience and played their own game even though the got little reward in the first half against a strong physical side and a strong wind.

09/09 Malahide United 3 – Castleknock 0.

Last Sunday say us way to Castleknock and fair play to the parents, we all met up very early as requested. With a full compliment of fit and enthusiastic players our attitude was good from the start.

From the whistle, we had a series of good runs from middle, wings and backs. Con was not too busy due to great defending and forward playing. Duffer and Paddy defended, controlled and passed accurately. Ian, Keita and Macker demonstrated good passing skills but we were unlucky not to score first half.

It was during the second half we really turned on the pressure. Freddy, Daggers, Dicey and Stevie unleashed a torrent of shots. Suddenly, Marco who had been playing a stormer throughout the match made a break and was unstoppable and finished with a great goal that lifted all our spirits. Then Jimmy made a brilliant pass to Dicey who finished nicely – another one in the net 2-0. The crowds were going crazy!! Shortly after that yours truly finished with a nice lob in behind the keeper – honest I was trying to pass to Jimmy!
It was a great team effort. We were a very happy team. (Including Ado!!)

Yorkie.

The "Crazy Gangs" "Malahide Maul" v Castleknock

2/9 v Raheny

Last week, we played against Raheny at home in the castle. We played really well in the first half . Aaron (Dicey)
scored two amazing goals. We went into half time at 2-2. Unfortunately, they got the better of us in the
second half. We took our chances but to no avail .They even were one man down . We ended the match disappointingly at 5-2. We gave 110% all the way though and never gave up.
